Greening of CLA Conference
CLA is working diligently to make the National Conference more environmentally friendly. By selecting a venue with a significant "Green" policy, investing in tree planting to offset our carbon footprint, decreasing the amount of print material and utilizing materials that are re-usable (badge pockets, delegate bags) or recyclable, CLA has taken direct, tangible steps to offering a "Green" conference.
Facilities - Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel
The hotel has established sound environmental practices in the structure of the facility including architectural features, electrical, mechanical and finishing products. It offers recycling programs, towel and sheet reuse, housekeeping monitoring of blinds, room temperatures during hours when guests are out of the room, use of china and glass, condiments in bulk containers and cloth linens for functions.
Carbon Neutral Certificate for Conference
CLA has paid Tree Canada to plant 2,965 trees in British Columbia, resulting in the potential sequestration of 494.63 tonnes of carbon dioxide over an 80-year period.
Printing
The preliminary program was included in our newsmagazine Feliciter rather than a separate printed document. The Exhibitor Manual was only provided in an electronic format. Speakers have been asked to provide all presentations in an electronic format to reduce the paper required for handouts. Delegate bags will not contain advertisements or printed material.
Other
Delegate badges will be provided in a reusable/recyclable pouch. The delegate bags can be reused and are made of 100% recyclable material.
