The publisher themselves notes, with regard to the book: “
In a dystopian Lima governed by a progressive regime, ruin seems to be the only possible future.
The inhabitants of the Villa Diodati building, the epicenter from which all the stories of this novel arise, struggle between the violence that escalates in the city and the abyss of their own lives. Like a mosaic of fates, each window of the Diodati offers a glimpse into a sorrowful and fractured reality that barrels unrestrained toward devastation. A family petrified by the ravages of a rare illness, a trans woman who uses her psychic powers to conjure a supernatural force, a boy who becomes a criminal to steer a revolution.
Who survives when misery is the norm?
Through eight interconnected stories that intertwine in an enigmatic way, Dany Salvatierra manages to compose a novel that defies convention, where science fiction and futurism are not mere explorations of possible worlds, but the stark acknowledgment of a disturbing truth: these creatures writhing in misery are us.”
